On August 15, shuckins-r7 merged the Metasploit 4.10.0 branch
(staging/electro-release) into master. Rather than merging with
history, he squashed all history into two commits (see
149c3ecc63 and
82760bf5b3).
We want to preserve history (for things like git blame, git log, etc.).
So on August 22, we reverted the commits above (see
19ba7772f3).
This merge commit merges the staging/electro-release branch
(62b81d6814) into master
(48f0743d1b). It ensures that any changes
committed to master since the original squashed merge are retained.
As a side effect, you may see this merge commit in history/blame for the
time period between August 15 and August 22.
This fixes a huge number of hard-to-detect runtime bugs
that occur when a default utf-8 string from one of these
libraries is passed into a method expecting ascii-8bit

When the local workstation name is less than 6 characters, remote
authentication against a Windows 2008r2 WinRM service always fails. This
doesn't seem to affect authentication against IIS's negotiate
implementation.
'hex-all' encoding was previously ignoring slashes.
This pull adds 'hex-noslashes' mode which carries forward the previous functionality, and replaces all existing references to 'hex-all' with 'hex-noslashes' It then adds a replacement 'hex-all' mode, which really encodes *ALL* characters.
This commit adds support for the TRANS2 request 'query file info
network' (smb_cmd_trans_query_file_info_network) used in some SMB client
requests. This adds specific support for functions used by Apache Tomcat
in the Struts2 JSP injection exploit (CVE-2014-0094).
These additions queue up support for the SMB functions used by the
ms13_071_theme expoit developed by Juan Vazquez, including support for
the FIND_FIRST2 functions:
* Find File Both Directory Info
* Find File Names Info
Additionally this commit fixes a few bugs in how the client SMB payload
is handled to determine whether a file, directory or "not found"
response needs to be returned and allows metasploit to serve arbitrary
files directly over SMB in addition to files being loaded in runtime
processes calling "LoadLibrary".
This commit changes how os_name and os_flavor are handled
for client-side exploits, matching recent changes to the
server-side exploits and scanner fingerprints.
This commit also updates the client-side fingerprinting to
take into account Windows 8.1 and IE 9, 10, and 11.
within Rex, allowing exploit modules to create a payload to be sent
to an SMBFileServer instance. This can be useful in cases where
you would find DLL injection in an system which will read files
over a UNC share, or other instances where a payload can be delivered
over SMB.
This code borrows heavily from the ms13_071_theme module written
by Juan Vazquez, however I have performed a fair amount of protocol
analysis and debugging to provide support for delivering an arbitrary
MSF payload over UNC.
The main differences being the presence of functions to support:
-SMB CMD Trans Query Path Info (Basic and Standard)
- SMB CMD Trans Query File Info (Standard and Internal)
This code can be considered "alpha", as I have only implemented support
for the SMB functions discovered during development of an exploit of an
arbitrary DLL injection into a server performing a "LoadLibraryA" call.*
However, this provides a basis upon which additional SMB functions can
be implemented to extend delivery of payloads over SMB.
A separate commit will expose the SMBFileServer Module within
./lib/msf/core/exploit/smb.rb
* This exploit will be committed separately once a fix has been confirmed
by the vendor.
[SeeRM #823], where Stephen was asking for SSL compression for
Meterpreter -- this isn't that, but it's at least now possible for other
Metasploit functionality.
The only conflict was the regex option for no encoding, which was added
after @Meatballs1's original PR for rapid7/metasploit-framework#1421
Also fixes the module with the new license splat.

Also disables the compression by default. TLS-level compression is almost
never used by browsers, and openssl seems to be the only one that enables
it by default.
This also kills some ruby < 1.9.3 code.
Replacing #2060. It is possible to get a nil in last_filename if
the sub! function doesn't find any 0x00s to replace, so instead
it's best to use sub(), which should at least return the original
filename. To make sure we don't hit any other unknown conditions
that may result in nil last_filename, it's also convert with to_s
to make sure it's always a string.
Aside from codebase-wide changes, nearly all of these tests haven't been
touched since before 2010, and there is no effort to maintain this style
of testing. We've moved on to (correctly) seperating out our tests from
our codebase.
When hashes for params contain nils, they should be converted to empty
strings instead of crashing.

Comments at the start of the file with ## caused YARD to think the
comment was documenting the require call. By removing the ##, the
warning disappeared. I did not determine what is special about ## in
file comments.
They were identical except for a couple of extra bugs in set_cgi.
Also changes ```split("/")``` to ```split("/", -1)```, which behaves
correctly when the input has a seperator at the beginning or end.
need a reliable object class for request_raw and request_cgi so that we
can manipulate requests in a safe and sane manner. It is not a eprfect
solution, but should fix what we need for the auth work.
In that order. #1476 was an attempt to salvage the functionality, but
sinn3r found some more bugs. So, undoing that, and undoing #1444 as
well.
First, do no harm. It's obvious we cannot be making sweeping changes in
libraries like this without a minimum of testing available. #1478 starts
to address that, by the way.

winrm is unforgiving of pipelining from non ntlm requests into the
challenge response cycle. we must clear our initial tcp session before
starting ntlm auth for winrm
Often in HTTP modules, people are forced to to use 'data' instead
of 'vars_get' or 'vars_post', because the parameters (especially
the names) are URI-encoded, and the application actually may not
recognize the names/values. The new 'encode_params' option allows
that feature to be disabled. However, to make sure we're not
changing existing HTTP modules' behaviors, 'encode_params' is
still true by default (which is the original behavior we've always
been using).
This switches the Metasploit Framework to a Rails 3 backend. If you run
into new problems (especially around Active Record or your postgresql
gem) you should try first updating your Ruby installation to 1.9.3 and
use a more recent 'pg' gem.
If that fails, we'd love to see your bug report (just drop all the
detail you can into an issue on GitHub). In the meantime, you can
checkout the rails2 branch, which was branched from master immediately
before this cutover.

Drop ActiveRecord/ActiveSupport in preparation for upgrade
At some point in the distant past, the datastore was all strings and the
various option types got parsed out in the appropriate places. Then, in
the somewhat more recent past, the options started getting converted to
regular ruby types (such as TrueClass for a BOOL options, etc) earlier
in their life. Apparently, that change broke boolean http evasions.
This commit fixes them by ensuring that +true+ is just as acceptable as
"true".

Can't actually require FILENAME or REMOTE_FILENAME because I don't know
if you're going to upload or download. However, there shouldn't be a
stacktrace when you just try to go with neither.
See #5291. Adds an option to mess with the block size in case someone
wants to write a fuzzer or exploit that leverages that. Adds a cleanup
method to the module (pretty much required, it turns out). Looking
nearly final, just need to rename the module and I think we're good to
push to master.
Commenting the tricksy parts a little better for general usage.
Adding the ability to set FILEDATA instead of FILENAME, in case
only short bits of data are desired and the user doesn't want
to go to the trouble of creating a source file to upload.
Still need to deal with the use case of not passing a block; blocks
should not be required, it should be okay to invoke and just wait for
the complete attribute to be true. You'll miss out on error messages but
eh, maybe those should be return values.
Adds error checking and some helpful messaging in the event of an error.
In the event of a failed transfer the module exits immediately, but in
success, I'm still hanging around for several seconds after. Not a deal
breaker but can be annoying.
Also, need to implement a read as well as a write and store it as loot,
to be actually useful for most TFTP checking.
Actually keep track of which clients get which IP, only give PXE options to PXE clients, and provide more control over serving to PXE and/or normal clients.
