This fixes error erasing partial mtd partition which does not start on
eraseblock boundary and allows using fconfig to configure redboot on
devices such as the Gateworks Cambria.

The current code only allows to automatically set
root device on MTD partitions. Move the code to MTD
core to allow to use it with all MTD devices.
