Note that the FIQ support implements a workaround that provides a performance
boost over the traditional upstream workaround which ensures cache lines
are exclusive on driver CPU using 'read for ownership'.

The ARM11MPCore Timer/Watchdog registers start at offset 0x600 which is where
all mpcore-wdt boards point the driver base too. I believe this is wrong
because 0x600 is aliased to the timer/watchdog of the 'current CPU' where
0x700 is CPU0's timer/watchdog, and 0x800 is CPU1's timer/watchdog. Thus
if your timer/watchdog application is switching between CPU's it can end up
writing to the wrong CPU's registers which results in random board resets
from watchdog timeouts etc.
This patch forces the timer/watchdog driver to use CPU0's registers always.
Its my opinion that other mpcore-wdt boards should be doing the same thing.

Before it was tried to initialize the deactivated PCIe core in client
mode, but this causes the SoC to hang. Just do not initialize it at all
and ignore the core it is not working and nothing is connected to it
when the specific bit is set in the boardflags.

Sometimes the PCIe card indicates that it has a sprom somewhere and we
are able to read the memory region, but it is empty and not valid. In
these cases we should try to use the fallback sprom as a last chance.

The chip common and the PCIe code are accessing the sprom struct which
is not filled when these cores are initialized. Fix this by adding an
early initialize and fill the sprom struct before accessing it in other
code.

The bcma based SoCs with a ieee80211 core on the SoC and an other
connected via PCIe or USB store the sprom for the SoC with a sb/1/
prefix. The SoC with just one wifi core do not use prefixes. The
BCM4706 do not use a prefix for the SoC part at all, because the prefix
is the path to the ieee80211 core and there is non on the BCM4706.

Sometimes the port 0 was the WAN port or there could be some device
where the port 0 is not wired to an actual Ethernet port. Now telnet in
failsafe will listen on all ports of the switch so user do not have to
search for the correct port any more. This change will make the switch
leak traffic between the WAN and the LAN port, but you should not use
failsafe while connected to a untrusted network.

With these images, it is possible to use the 'unused'
partition of the flash. The 'fat' images can be installed
with the sysupgrade command. When a 'fat' image is
installed from a regular one, the platform specific
sysupgrade script copies the calibration data to the
end of the flash. Likewise, when a regular image is
installed from the 'fat' version the sysupgrade script
copies the calibration data back to the original location.

When not removing support for the wait instruction, when ruining on the
BCM4706 SoC the system stops after msleep() without an exception. I
haven't seen this problem on the other Broadcom SoCs with a 74K CPU,
but in the Broadcom SDK it is deactivated for all CPUs of this type.

This is a patch to connect eth0.1 (lan) to the only
ethernet connector available.
D-Link DAP-1350 goes bricked with AA 12.09-beta.
This is because the current esw configuration for the
board connects eth0.2 (wan) to the *ONE and ONLY*
ethernet connector available, preventing initial access
to the board through 192.168.1.1 on eth0.1 after flashing,
effectively bricking the board.
There are things that should be done to make this board
really useful, but for AA 12.09, this one liner is
indispensable.

Somehow detecting the RAM size in common/setup.c doesn't
work here, it always detects 64M and then crashes on devices
with less RAM.
Probably using MEMC_REG_SDRAM_CFG1 to know the RAM size is how
it could be, for now I use the mem=32M kernel parameter to get
stuff working.

Use doubletagging to disable ramips_esw vlan by default, it seems
more reliable.
Daniel Golle found an issue where sometimes (possibly only for
RT3352) the default vlan disable method (clearing en_vlan, untag,
doubletag and putting all ports into vlan 0) doesn't work and the
packets get sent out vlan-tagged with vlan 0.
Instead switch to using the doubletagging method (allow doubletagged
packets, put all ports into vlan 0 with untag enabled) by default.
Unless someone figures out a way to really globally disable vlan for
this switch, this seems like the best (most reliable) option.
I did some tests regarding maximum packet size and did not see any
difference between the two methods, both allow for slightly bigger packets
than the ramips_main.c ethernet driver (ping stops going through
above "ping -s 1472" (1514 bytes), on the switch packets are recv_good until
"ping -s 1490", or about 1532 bytes).

Add switch setup to uci network defaults.
The 'lan' attribute is used to decide into which vlan to put the

Add swconfig support to ramips_esw.c
This patch adds swconfig support for ramips_esw:
Tested on both D-LINK DIR-300 B1 and Sitecom WL-351 (external
rtl8366rb on internal port 5).
I've made sure that in the enable_vlan=0 case it behaves like a dumb
switch, so external switches should work fine with vlans and
verified this on the WL-351.
The current state shown by swconfig is always read directly from HW
registers, new settings only show after 'swconfig dev rt305x set apply'.

An improved LED support for Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H.
There will be two new packages to go with this patch
(ar922x-led-fix-hotplug and ar922x-led-fix-init).
These packages essentially perform the same task of
disabling "JTAG over GPIO pins" function which is
currently required for LEDs on AR922x emac GPIO to work,
and are both considered a temporary fix that circumvent
this problem.

Commit 48788063266ad99bdab03b53cbe7e1a564c2d9b3 (r33251) introduced a
regression with board= kernel command line parameter incorrectly
initialised.
The faulty builds propogated to the snapshots download area. This makes
the device unbootable and TP-Link users have to attach the serial to
recover.
Here is the q&d way i used to identify MIPS boards that didn't have a
corresponding entry in the image/Makefile:

Generate image for the ALL0239-3G which can be flashed through the
chipset-vendor SDK based firmware's web-interface and bootloader.
The bootloader seems to ignore uImage checksum errors, but does complain about
them once the 0xDEADC0DE was replaced by an actual JFFS2 page.
I'm working on implementing fixtrx for uImage in the mtd package to solve this.

As the userspace has no means to determine the maximum possible timeout, use
that as the default and let the userspace lower it when necessary.
As the result the usual OpenWrt install (with busybox's watchdog trying to set
the timeout to 60s on start) is using a 33s timeout on an RT3052 clocked at
384MHz instead of the current 20s default.

The following patch corrects a hard reset that occurs on alix and
soekris net5501 hardware. Specifically, this is an issue with the via
rhine NIC driver. Under periods of extreme load, the via rhine driver
can cause a reset of the entire system. When this happens no output is
seen on the console, the device simply reboots. This was reported in the
following ticket:

I was able to reproduce the problem locally with numerous alix 2d13
platforms. Under heavy 64 byte frame size load from a Smartbits traffic
generator, the alix hardware will hard reset in under 5 minutes. The
same hardware, under the same load, on FreeBSD 9.0 does not reset.
The patch below backports most of the via rhine changes from kernel 3.5.
With OpenWrt trunk being on kernel 3.3.8, it seemed prudent to bring
these changes in to avoid this serious issue.
I've tested this heavily in my test environment and was able to keep the
device stable under load for extended periods of time without any resets.
Also, a nice side effect of this change is that it significantly raises
the performance the platform. Without this patch the alix 2d13 can move
approximately 29,000 packets per second at 64 byte frame sizes. After
this patch the alix can move 52,000 packets per second at 64 byte frame
sizes.
I put this patch under the x86 patches as those are the only platforms
with via rhine hardware that I'm aware of. If it needs to go some place
else please let me know.

One condition before codel_Newton_step() was not good if
we never left the dropping state for a flow. As a result
rec_inv_sqrt was 0, instead of the ~0 initial value.
codel control law was then set to a very aggressive mode, dropping
many packets before reaching 'target' and recovering from this problem.

Note on serial console:
This unit has buffalo standard 4 pin console, but the unit may not power
on if some console apparatus is connected. This is probably due to some
electronic interaction between the unit's electronic power switch circuit
and the serial console apparatus. If this happens, it is required to power
on the unit without the console, then quickly (re-)attach it.

Despite Westwood's theoretical advantages, in nearly
every benchmark we ran last year, TCP cubic won, whether it be
on correct RTT estimates, amount of buffering, responsiveness,
etc. on current hardware and software designs.
(both need timestamps on to work well, besides)
TCP cubic is better maintained and understood than westwood,
also.
While a scenario where westwood would win possibly exists,
there is too much buffering in the wifi stack in particular
at present, to see any improvement.
If you wish to exercise various TCPs under contention,
the current svn head of netperf (2.6) has options to switch
congestion control agorithms on the fly, as does iperf.

Hardware filtering must always be enabled as long as there is an Ethernet
device registered, and use device tree for setting the link activity and
buffer shifting enable/disable bit.

This target currently only supports Moschip's MCS8140 SoC, but support
for other chips in the same family (MCS8142, MCS8144) will be easy to add.
Target support is entirely using Device Tree for probing peripherals.

BCM6338 and BCM6338 have their MSG_CONTROL register width of 8-bits instead of
16-bits. We were previously using a 16-bits write which corrupted the first
byte of the TX FIFO. Also the message type was always set to Full-duplex even
in the case of half-duplex messages.

WIFI eeprom:
As discussed, it is impossible for nand and spi flash platforms to have the eeprom data available from mtd. I suggested to load the eeprom from user-space. I've looked into regular firmware loading but this is only possible when using modules. I've created a sysfs entry that allows reading and writing the eeprom data to the platform data. After loading the eeprom data I rely on pci-hotplug support to disable the bogus pci device and rescan the bus (with fixups and all). Because hotplug is not available, an init script is created that performs the copy from mtd to platform data. I think it is best to eventually move the sysfs functions to dev_wifi_athxk.c file, this would get rid of the external to the ath9k platform data.
SPI flash:
It seems that the spi-xway driver is not really working. It causes my kernel to crash in all sorts of ways. I added to bitbang SPI to be able to the calibration data mention above.
I've kept the original mtd partitioning that Netgear uses.
Buttons/LED:
Both buttons are working properly. Two leds are not enabled: The red internet led is connected to the pci_gnt1 pin... I can't disable it because then DMA stops working.
The green wifi led is connected to an unknown atheros gpio.

Build images for D-Link DSL-274XB revision F1. Flashing
through original web UI as well as CFE works.

* wifi led inverted (on when wifi is off and vice cersa)

Add byte queue limits support to net/ethernet/ramips_main.c
"Byte queue limits are a mechanism to limit the size of the transmit
hardware queue on a NIC by number of bytes. The goal of these byte
limits is too reduce latency (HOL blocking) caused by excessive
queuing in hardware (aka buffer bloat) without sacrificing
throughput."

Codel is a new AQM algorithm and RED replacement designed by
Kathie Nichols and Van Jacobson, and published in ACM queue:

Codel stands for "Controlled Delay", and needs no knobs in the
general case, twiddled, for optimum results. It aims for 5ms of
delay, at most, when in use.
Additionally,
fq_codel (by eric dumazet) builds on codel to provide fair queuing
superior to what could be had with SFQ, and drop behavior saner
than RED, BLUE, or choke.
These patches are backported from net-next and are known to work
on Linux 3.3.4 and later.
Includes updates to codel for better portability and speed
